Radiações.... que continuam a matar
Recebi esta, que aqui trago para informação!:
#The Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) is critical to ensuring communities harmed by radiation from US nuclear weapons testing and uranium mining receive cancer screenings and compensation. The House is voting as early as Monday afternoon: without action, RECA will expire in 4 days, and we need your help to pass a stronger RECA bill.
The government knowingly exposed people to unsafe levels of radiation--by detonating hundreds of nuclear weapons. Congress has a responsibility to pass the strongest RECA legislation possible and ensure survivors receive proper compensation. RECA is a crucial program, but it’s also highly flawed. The RECA bill we’re fighting for (S.3853) will include more communities who have been previously excluded – in some cases for nearly 80 years - and improve benefits.
Congress will vote as early as TODAY. Email your Representatives now and tell them to vote YES on a stronger RECA!
This bill will significantly strengthen RECA by including previously excluded downwind communities – like those downwind of the Trinity Test in New Mexico, including additional uranium mining communities, and increasing compensation for the first time in 35 years to keep up with inflation.
Thanks to immense pressure and advocacy from frontline communities and people like you, the Senate already passed this RECA bill in March with overwhelming bipartisan support. Now it is up to the House to do the same. Your advocacy is so important because for this vote, we’ll need to get a 2/3 majority. We need every vote possible in Congress.
Tell your representative to support communities impacted by nuclear radiation by voting yes on the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act.
